For more than 25 years, Prudential Guards Limited has been providing manned guarding and associated technical security solutions to corporate and private customers at their work places and private property across the nation.

Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Prudential Guards Limited provides a range of professional security services to a broad customer segment, including Supply of Trained Security Officers, Alarm Response Services, Armed Response Services, Escort and Protocols Services, Security Consultancy, Background Investigation, and Implementation of Security Equipment.


The company was incorporated under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in year 1988 and licensed by the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs & Nigeria Civil Defense Corps to provide private security services. Wholly Nigerian owned and operated, Prudential Guards Limited is the largest privately-owned security company in Nigeria.


The company has also been issued Recruiter’s License by the Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity under The Labour Act CAP 198 LFN 1990 of Nigeria. At Prudential Guards Limited, we pride ourself on the cadre of well-trained and highly committed employees we have developed and nurtured over the years, as well as the reputation for excellence we have acquired nationally and internationally.


Prudential Guards Limited operates through 13 district offices, delivering the highest level of security personnel services to the satisfaction of our clients by focusing on the objective of providing solutions tailored to their individual needs so that they can devote valuable time and resources to their core business operations for effective productivity. The company serves most of the major foreign missions and international organizations in Nigeria. The company remains one of the largest providers of security guard services to diplomatic missions in Nigeria.

With our years of experience in the provision of security services to embassies, banks and international organizations, and offices in the major commercial centers in the country, the company currently has a workforce of about 9,000 employees across Nigeria with 130 of these headquartered as administrative and operational staff. Staff turnover is less than 5%.

Most management staff are university graduates with professional qualifications in their respective areas of specialization. The company’s strength lies in its ability to adjust to each client’s situation and to serve with integrity.  It has also over the years, been able to foster each client a partnership relationship with effectiveness in dealing with issues as they arise.


Key Management

Prudential Guards Limited wields a team of highly dedicated and time-proven individuals with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of professional security services and personnel management

  • Mr. Andrew Utah (Founder & CEO)

    Prior to setting up Prudential Guards Limited, Mr Utah was a Partner at Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) and was responsible for the firm’s management consultancy practice in Nigeria. Mr Utah saw a gap in private security sector and a need for an indigenous company to provide world class outsourcing service to multinational companies and diplomatic missions in Nigeria. As such, in 1988, Prudential Guards Limited was established to fill this gap and through excellent customer service and providing superior security solutions have attained a prominent position of the preferred security services provider.

  • Tokunbo Phillips, Chief Operating Officer

    Tokunbo obtained a Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety in 1982 from the University of Aston in Birmingham and joined Prudential Guards Limited in 1992 after ten-years with the Federal Ministry of Health as an Occupational Hygienist. With membership of the British Health and Safety Society, American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Fellow of the Society of Security Practitioners of Nigeria (SSPN) and provides leadership in managing the vast resources of the company across Nigeria.

  • Aderemi Ogunleye, Financial Controller

    Aderemi is a 1989 graduate of the University of Lagos. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Associate Member, Institute of Taxation, and Associate Member, Certified Pension Institute, Aderemi joined the company in 2006.

  • Chukwuemeka Onyemaechi Azuonye, Principal Manager General Operations & Administration

    Chukwuemeka Holds a BSc in Sociology from the University of Jos. He joined the Prudential Guards Limited in 1995 and has worked through the ranks to presently the position as Principal Manager, General Operations and Administration.

  • Crescent Ugwueke, Principal Manager Quality Control & Business Initiatives

    Crescent has a MSc in Public Administration. He joined the company in 1998 and has worked in different departments of the organization such as operations, quality control, client’s services and currently Principal Manager, Quality Control and Business Initiatives.

  • Martha Chika Onyeagoro, Principal Manager, Outstations and Quality Management

    Martha holds an MBA from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri and has been with our company since 1990. She currently heads our Outstations and Quality Management System department.
